Sooo I think the open-faced turkey melt and chocolate chip cookies I just made for lunch have gone to my head. I've tried to write this blog once or twice already, and it keeps turning out very strange and rediculous. I think this time I'm just going to forge on ahead, and hope this all works out.
So.

Yesterday Cat and I spontaneously decided to go to Salisbury in the afternoon, which is a two hour train ride in some direction. We were attempting to go there so that we could catch a bus to see Stonehenge (surprisingly it's far less thrilling to go see Stonehenge when it's a spontaneous daytrip). Unfortunately, while it was all blue skies the whole way there until the last half hour or so, by the time we got to the town it was mist-raining, which is easily the worst kind of rain England inflicts upon people. It like...even softer than manoa rain, but constant. Like those misty things soccer moms have sometimes, but in your eyeballs and constant and there's no escape! We wanted to find the tourist info centre and a map before we found the bus to Stonehenge, but the tourist centre ended up being on the other side of the city, so we didn't make the bus. We ended up walking around the medieval town for a bit, which was admittedly pretty, but eventually we just couldn't take the fake drizzle anymore and went to eat at this really really pretty pub/restaurant called "The Mill." The river ran around the edge so we had to cross a bridge to enter, and it was all stonework and inside were super comfy couches and warmth and jazz music or something playing in the background. It was excellent. I tried Irish stew, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it was canned. Cat's steak and chips and onion rings though were great and my banoffee pie was fantastic. It was like a little pie with banana custard filling, doused in dark melted chocolate, and served with double cream in a little pourer thing. So good! Not as good as Sticky Toffee Pudding (which I'm pretty sure I've glorifed before in my blog) but it was delicious.
I just realized I could totally upload photos and then have them in my blog while I go through my day. Why did it take me this long to remember/figure that one out? Eh, maybe I'll edit a little later. (I know I always say that, but I never do)
Uhh so then we left and IT WAS STILL FAKE DRIZZLING and our clothes were "soaked" so it was cold and uncomfortable and even more irritating because we weren't really soaked it was like...I guess like if someone fell in the snow and just stayed there a little while before getting up. You're not drenched soaked, but all your stuff is wet and not fun to be in.
So then we diplomatically decided to catch the train home and try for Stonehenge another day. Unfortunately, we got there and the train was waiting, but I guess we were a minute to late because when I pushed the button to open the doors it just sat there for another minute or two then drove away. Oy. Luckily another train came 20 minutes later. We almost didn't get on it because the signs up top were flashing something like "ignore the next train, it's not supposed to stop here" but then it did and actually WAS the right train, and thankfully we got on. We met this nice man who was sitting across from us who apparently walked the 10 miles to Stonehenge that day, and was amazed at our ability to sleep on trains (I've gotten really good at sleeping on trains if I get the row to myself and can curl my bag away from view) and we were back home safe and sound by 8pm. I emailed a professor and turned in a bit of homework, and watched some TV online on my laptop, and that was my day.

Today I woke up at 7:30 and 9:30, but didn't get out of bed until 12-1pm. I love that I get to do that! Anyway, I got up and went grocery shopping, since I'm tired of the food I have and spending money eating out. I've resorted to using my credit card a few times, but I hate that I have no idea how much I'm spending. The back charges a fee for having to convert from pounds to dollars, and I can't figure out the fee or the conversion rate. My lunch from Stratford that was under 9 pounds charged me $14 on my credit card. I have no idea how much the food I've eaten the last few weeks, or the tickets I've bought for shows and stuff will cost on my bill until they get posted next month. Scary!! But I guess I won't have to worry much longer, which is both good and really, really sad.
I have no idea what else to write. I think right now my plan of action will be to upload photos, mail a certification for a scholarship AGAIN (oy.) and attempt to sort out all the shows I've been to that I haven't logged anywhere. Sound good?
We'll see how much of it actually happens, or in that order.
